Capital of the Red Sea

Capital of the Red Sea

Hurghada is the administrative capital of the Red Sea Governorate, located 450 kilometers from Cairo, and has a population of about 199 thousand people.

The governorate's official website describes it as "the oldest tourist city on the land of Egypt. It took its name from prehistoric times, when it was called the land of Horjat, which is the name given to it in foreign languages, "Hourgada."

The website indicates that Hurghada is the first city to witness a comprehensive tourism development process, as its tourism planning is considered the first experience of its kind in Egypt, due to its wealth and tourism components that have not been gathered in any other region.
